I’ve always thought that a solo cello performance is like listening to the simplest essence of a song. Although it is only one acoustic melody, the cello evokes an entire chorale all on its own with its soaring and sonorous voice.

At any rate, that’s what drew me to this instrument when I started playing over fifteen years ago.

Now, I love sharing music with others at weddings and other events, whether with traditional melodies that have been passed down for generations, or acoustic versions of modern day classics (Howl’s Moving Castle, anyone?).

Besides the usual classical repertoire, I love bringing beloved songs and soundtracks to life in nontraditional settings. Some of my favorite cello experiences have been getting to perform in full regency getup for Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte premiere, as well as playing electric cello as backup for a band covering Beatles songs (which was in turn singing backup for interpretative ballet dance… it truly felt like a fever dream)!
